Specialized training workshops will be designed to assist individuals in developing and growing their business. They will be taught by representatives of private businesses, agencies, education institutions, entrepreneurs and others who want to share their success stories. Training workshops will vary in length from 45 minutes, to two hours, to half- and all-day. A complete training workshop schedule will be online as information becomes available.

- I Have an Idea, Now What?
This training will be designed for the individual that has an idea, and doesn’t know what to do next. Sample topics include: steps to develop the idea, how to conduct market research, how to write a business plan.
- I am Ready to Start My Business, What Do I Do Next?
The individual now has the idea developed, has a business plan, and is ready to launch the business. Sample topics include: Choice of Entity ~ How Should My Business Be Organized?; and the 3 R’s of Business Start-Up: Registration, Reporting, and Recordkeeping.
- I Have a Business, How Do I Grow It?
A business has been existence for a time, and the owner is ready to grow it. Sample topics include: Practical Tips for Successful Advertising and Marketing; Bottom Line Basics ~ How to Earn More Profit for Your Business; and Building your Brand.
- FoodWorks: Exploring Specialty Foods
Specialty food producers interested in exploring the viability of introducing their product to the market are the focus of this training. Participants will be exposed to the basics of business planning, market research, regulatory standards, production options, and distribution channels for specialty foods.
- Selling to the Government (Procurement Practices)
This training will present the steps necessary to prepare a business to be able to register with the government entities, learn of bidding opportunities and submit bids for consideration by government purchasing officials.
- Green, Green, Green ~ Community, Business, Home
Community ~ This training is specifically targeted to community development board members and planners, and will focus on the best practices in environmentally sound development projects for communities. Business ~ Training for businesses looking for steps to implement eco-friendly practices into their operations, and plan for improvements. Home ~ This training will focus on practical applications every resident can consider implementing to create a more sustainable environment.
- ArtUp: Business Skills for Artists
Visual and performing artists wanting to better understand the business or art will want to participate in this training to better understand how to protect and sell their work. Training will lead artists through the copywriting process, pricing strategies, display and brochure development as well as expose them to potential new venues for their work.
- All Things International (Exporting)
Businesses interested in expanding their client base to include international sales will find this training useful in preparing to sell abroad. Training will outline the procedure and experiences of North Dakota companies as they have pursued sales opportunities beyond the states.
- Built4Sale (Succession Planning)
Rural North Dakota relies on their local businesses for viability. Those business owners wish to position their venture for sale when they retire. This training will inform business owners of the strategies necessary to position their business for successful transfer. One-on-one consultations will be made available.
- The eBay Marketplace
Participants learn more about using eBay to sell items through their auction-style and fixed-priced trading, by certified eBay instructors.
- Inventing Success
This training will provide inventors with information and tools to effectively commercialize new ideas. Topics will include: funding, the patent process, prototypes and engineering issues, and determining marketability of an invention.
- Web Connect
Internet technical tools are the means of communication to a growing number of customers and clients. This track will cover the basics of Facebook, You Tube, Twitter and other social networking sites of interest to small businesses and the general public.
- Venture Launch
This training is designed to provide those interested in starting a small business all the basic information needed to make that step. Given the number of displaced workers and mature persons wanting to supplement their family income due to the effect of the economy downturn, this training will address the specific needs to individuals wanting to create new income for their families by staring a simple business responsibly and quickly. One on one consultation for participants will be available.
- AgVentures
This training, specifically geared to farmers and ranchers, will focus on new opportunities in agriculture, including value added agriculture.
- Financing Your Business
This training will provide information on finding funding for your venture. Topics will include: Capital funds, grant writing, loans and grants for small businesses, and equity financing.
- Click ND: How to Build a Website
Designed for entrepreneurs with little or no website experience, this training will provide an introduction to building and maintaining a web site at a very reasonable cost.
- Invest in Veterans
Capital access for businesses owned or impacted by USA veterans is enhanced through special programs designed for this group. This training will outline the funds available to veterans in business and the application processes and requirements to access these funds.
- Tour ND
North Dakota residents interested in attracting visitors to events, activities and destinations will be the focus of this training. Topics will include regional marketing, specific regulatory issues pertaining to tourism, partner programs available in the industry and market analysis of North Dakota tourism interest.
- Career Opportunities
Career exploration. What are the opportunities? What should be included in a resume? Businesses will explain how their hire and internship opportunities.
